CNY blues

Now I'm so far away, I get nostalgic for anything that has to do with home, and especially in the last few weeks, I'd been going around the house in a mopey kind of way, thinking, where's the atmosphere? No bad Chinese New Year songs playing in department stores, no red and gold Bee Cheng Hiang shops belching the smoky smell of barbecued pork, no Mandarin oranges, no crowds in Chinatown. No nothing at all.<br />

If middle class folks are worried about the future, should we be surprised at all that a lot of ordinary Singaporeans are concerned about their ability to own a place they can call home?

An Open Letter to Mediacorp TV

First, we get bombarded all day all night about how we should be helpful and welcoming to foreigners or new citizens, and that was exactly what I did. Second, we get accused all the time for being a apathetic group of people who just sit and watch while others get bullied. I went to "settle" a problem because someone gave a false and horrible impression of my country and there was an old woman who needed help. And only to find out that I am a victim of a tasteless gag.
