Details: This is the first time the story of Singapore’s first 50 years of self-governance will be told through the novel medium of posters!

The National Resilience Division at MICA and the National Archives of Singapore (NAS) will be hosting a public education exhibition titled “Coping with Vulnerability: The First 50 Years. Posters from our Past”. The exhibition traces the trials and tribulations of a small state in its journey to nationhood. News clippings, photographs and other illustrations will supplement this visual feast of posters. Its three sections will touch on Water, Public Health and Internal/External Threats and explore the many challenges we faced from Communism, Communalism, Konfrontasi in our early years, our lack of access to water resources, exposure to Infectious diseases and transnational terrorism post 9/11.

The exhibition is supported by NSCS(PMO), MHA & NLB and involves a wide range of participating agencies, including Army Museum of Singapore, AVA, CAAS, CNB, HPB, HTA, ISD, LTA, MINDEF, MFA, MPA, NEA, NEXUS, PUB, SCDF and SPF.

View the exhibition anytime during its six-week run at the Central Lending Library. We believe you will find it fascinating and informative. Admission is free.
